| First time trip to coast We got back from Ecuador just this Tuesday and all the memories still fresh. The purpose of this trip was to investigate real estate investment opportunities along the coast and of course to learn as much as we can about everything else because we are strongly considering to settle down there for a full time. . Our initial plan was to rent a car in Guayaquil and go all way up to Canoa. After additional research that we did, we change our mind and haired private guide and we are so happy that we did. It was our first time in Ecuador, so in order to relocate for a full time you need to learn much more about the country, advantages and disadvantages of each and every location, culture and many more things. Driving conditions of course are different from US and Europe, but roads along the coast line well exceeded my expectation. Nevertheless, GPS is useless over there, and if you have a good map still is not enough because on many intersections on the roads you do not see any signs. Getting a car with the driver is good idea, but getting a personal guide, which speaks good english, knows almost every inch along the coast and is very knowledgeable and connected to assist you with property search, where to find inexpensive but nice and clean place to sleep, best food at the best price and many other things that you'll need during your trip. In addition traveling with the private guide we enjoyed trip much more, saved a lot of time, see much more without being stressed out from getting lost and other surprises. It will cost more than doing everything yourself but considering rental car cost + full car insurance + all the information we get + saving a lot of time + saving quite some money on less expensive and clean places to stay, some additional expense for private guide is well justified. Long story short, we are very happy with our guide and feel absolutely confident that we made the best decision possible. By the way, if you are in Salinas and want to find inexpensive place to stay, you may give a try to hosteriaecologicaelfaro. Check it out, just add www in front and com at he end. We stayed here last weekend for two nights and this place truly unique. Superb service, undivided attention to most if not all of your needs, owner speaks good english and makes absolutely everything to make sure that you'll enjoy every moment. It cost more than your regular Hosteria or Hostel, but price is well justified considering the experience you gain. |
| Thanks for sharing your trip in here. I have to say that I have been researching more about the best places to be in Ecuador. I am planning to visit the said country soon and bring my wife with me as well. I think we can be able to visit the said place this year and so all of your posts would be great. Thanks a lot and have a great day ahead to all. |
