Huh? Who are you colleen? I think tobey is asking for some famous athletes from Ecuador and not some self-centered girls. You didn't even say you're an athlete... and from Ecuador! Are you shouting at us? Your message is written in all caps. Huh, brush your internet ethics my dear. Children shouldn't be playing with the internet.

Hi Coleen.. Most "pretty cool" people I know don't post meaning-less things in forums that they obviously aren't intelligent enough to reply to.

Couldn't agree more "that guy", cool people doen't need to boast or show off that they are "cool" they just show it, and as far as I've seen in what she's doing here, it is not "cool" rather not appealing at all. Well let's go back to the original inquiry shall we?Here is a list of some of the Ecuadorian athletes:
1. Abdala Bucaram
2. Hugo Chila
3. Jackson Quinonez
4. Jefferson Perez
5. Rolando Vera (athlete)

So there aren't that many athletes from Ecuador, huh? Is it right to assume that the government may not be supporting (funding) their athletes to compete globally? It is indeed, a small country, right?
Comment #6 dustin (63.176.159.79) - 12/19/08 10:41
Ecuador has an area of 256, 371 square kilometers.
Comment #7 Minova (63.176.159.94) - 01/31/09 22:41
So what does that mean dustin? It doesn't mean if the country small there are less talented people right? Probably the government is not giving attention and support for their athletes.
Comment #8 Grace Lee (63.176.159.101) - 05/24/09 09:45
I bet that's there are talented people in Ecuador, because of its size and economy, the country has limited resources so they are allocating more of it to much more important areas such as education, etc. The real challenge for their athletes it to perform at their best even faced with such financial limitation.
Comment #9 cool is relative (63.176.159.250) - 07/08/09 09:04
Just coz Ecuador is small in size does not mean its athletes are few. Israel is so much of a small country but hasn't it made enough strides to be recognized globally?Grace, I think the notion that education is the key to a better life has been blown out of proportion. Even in sports, the professionals make more than the academicians. It all depends on the country's policy concerning sport. Don't we have footballers from Ecuador? Some English club signed someone by the name Benitez from that country.

A trend that I have noticed is that the economies of many developing nations will normally not manage to pay their athletes well enough because in their own words, there are better ways of putting the finances into use. The case is that otherwise productive athletes, out of a desire to make a greater fortune, will accept any offer to compete for a 'richer' country and get more benefits.
