My husband and I are visiting Ecuador hopefully the first week in July. We are on a fixed income so we are looking for a safe and cheap place to live.We are quite people and want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.We do not like the cold or extreme humidity. If anyone has ant suggestions we would love to hear themThanks Barbara

Hi Barbara, Obviously, the best thing to do is come for a visit. The purpose of our group is to help people find information sponsor introduction tours to help make the move to Ecuador easier. Our website has lots of free information that will help. We also have some rentals from time to time.
We live in Cotacachi, which is two hours north of Ecuador. It is quite beautiful, tucked between two large extinct volcanoes. It is a bit cooler than we prefer, but Ibarra, about 30 minutes from here and a bit lower has a nice climate and is larger so has better shopping opportunities.
As far as humidity goes, it typically runs between 62 and 68 now in the rainy season. But because of the coolness, is not a problem.

Hello, I've been browsinig properties and I am very impressed. I am single so my needs are simple. I love heat and with the last message I read I am wondering if it would be warm enough for me. I won't bring my beaver coat though, that helped me through many a cold winter in Alberta and a few in B.C. The idea of saviing on heating costs really appeals to me.
I read somewhere that the risk of catching a disease from a mosquito is reduced with the higher altitude. Which areas are these? Are they the less expensive regions?
Cheers,
April

We have been to Ecuador last year and would like to return to that great paradise. I recommend it to couples and friends to spend their quality time there. Try reading the links above to see a good review on Ecuador at Pro Ecuador.

Ecuador is apparently a haven for retirees. It is viable for those wanting to retire or wanting to invest. Look at this article on Ecuador, it is really worth the read.
