hello bob, do you have a particular area in mind? esmeralda is starting to decelop a bit more than the southern part of the country, other than salinas. salinas is a busy sea front city with quite a bit for sale. i wanted a quieter spot myself and just bought a house on the ocean around Olon, a few miles north of Montanita, a surfing mecca. i think real estate will continue to go up in that area and there are lots for sale right on the ocean for $150k and houses for sale as well as you drive along the coast. i recommend taking a drive along the coast and seeing what appeals to you. if you like solitude, ecuador is hard to beat in my opinion.

We are interested in purchasing/renting a home in Ecuador, and would like suggestions on the best way to tour the areas where there are expats. Not interested in the beach area, but rather an area in the mountains.

Is there a suggested itinerary and contacts? We will probably travel in the fall.

Hello,

I am offering my oceanfront house for sale. It is 6, 600 sq ft with 8 BR's 6 1/2 Baths; 4 BR's have private Baths and overlook the ocean; while two pairs of Br's have a bathroom between each pair making it a nice arrangement for owners/guests. Currently I use it as a 'hosteria" and have guests tell me they love the place. It is located 8 kms. north of Montanita so one can enjoy the surfing and atmosphere of that well known area, but enjoy a little more relaxation and tranquility if they like. I sell my house on the beach, it is located has Mompiche province esmeraldas, the ground is of 2500 m2 under the coconuts.

The house is nearly 1, 400 square feet of construction with two bedrooms and one bath and an extra shower outside The living room is over 450 square feet with plenty of room for friends and family.. It also has a 350 square foot deck for watching the waves as they approach the beach. There is 110 and 220 service to the house with a bodega for storage and pump house.
