I'm planning on moving to Quito to teach english later this year but I can't find any information about renting an apartment. Does anyone know how much a small studio apartment near the centre of the city with furniture would cost me? Are there any websites for checking out the local apartments for rent? Thanks!

IT ALL DEPENDS WHAT DO YOU WANT. THERE ARE HOUSES FROM 300 USD.YOU CAN LOOK FOR IT: www.elcomercio.com
If you need travel information you should visit

A follow up from this -Raul is right that El Commercio is the place to look -I believe the Sunday edition is the one with properties. Prices vary hugely -$300 is possible but you will pay much more in the good neighbourhoods such as Gonzales Suarez and Guapulo. Expect to pay a months rent in advance plus a deposit equivalent to a months rent.
Longer periods are cheaper. For short lets try villarenters.com

It is rare that you will move into that place and find an already furnished studio. I believe you want to set up a studio on your own. Why don't you try visiting the place to first familiarize with everyone then go through newspaper ads. It will be easier sourcing for an apartment with a bit of knowledge on how things are on the ground. Form rapports with the residents; they will be of help!

Hi, I DO have a beautiful, fully furnished suite in the colonial city of Quito. Hard to find something similar. Please review the web site to view it as well as my villa 35 minutes from the city.

"i have a great place for rent."
Hi- I have a great 3 bedroom home on Rocafuerte in colonial Quito for rent. it's completely, furnished, has wifi, security system, a washer, dryer, and a huge terrazza with breathtaking views. I have been charging 600/ month for short term rentals, but can negotiate if the rental is longer than 3 months. if you can get a roomate, which shouldn't be a problem, considering the space, you can get a really superior space for about the same money that you would pay for a dark, cramped apt.
Please email me for additional photos, information and reviews/ references.

oops- forgot to tell you how to find the ads. just search for a beautifull 3 bedroom house in colonial quito , or lovely 3 bedroom house in colonial quito. it's yellow and is situated on a corner.
