Might be a silly question ... but ... do any of the hospitals accept Blue Cross and Blue Shield?

Just about all hospitals I know of accept blue cross and blue shield and even if they dont, you still have the right to treatment, than whenever you would get the hospital bill, send a copy of it to your insurance company and I am sure they would help you pay it.

I see some bad advice there... you need to:1) Check your policy very closely to see what is covered outside the USA
2) Check with the hospitals in Ecuador to see what they actually accept
Your best bet is probably to look for local health insurance options in Ecuador. They are likely to be much less expensive.

Molly has a good point there you should probably at the least check to see what you insurance covers outside the U.S.

Can't you just get health insurance in Ecuador?

Is it hard for someone from the United States to get health insurance in Ecuador?
Comment #7 cwemoy (63.176.159.41) - 07/01/09 06:43
A local insurance cover might be the best and cheapest option. I do not think your question is silly but why not visit the information desks of the various hospitals and find out. Your seeming reluctance about getting insurance locally suggests there are good benefits by using Blue Shield/Blue Cross.Jim, unless you have a bad history I do not think there should be any difficulty.

Are there many Americans in Ecuador in the first place?

Health insurance is under the jurisdiction of States and usually the covered territory is limited to sigle county. If it's not I wonder how I passed the license exam. Only insurance which has multi-state coverage is medicare and this does not go beyond border. I'm interested to know if it is otherwise.
