| Why Ecuador When I tell people that I am moving to Ecuador they usually have a puzzled look on their face. I think this is mainly because they don’t know a lot about Ecuador. Ecuador is a country about the size of Colorado tucked away in Northwest South America and as you would expect sits on the equator. The first thing I share with people is that Ecuador was rated by International Living (IL) as the #1 Retirement Haven in the World in 2009. IL uses a number of different categories in their annual review that includes things such as cost of living, weather, and health care. What approach and criteria did you use in selecting Ecuador as a place to live? |
| "International Living"
Who cares how International Living or anyone else rates a place. What is important is how you feel in that place. Spend some time there and then decide if you want to live there! |
| Hi to all. I am interested in learning more about the country of Ecuador most especially about the life of the expats who already made it there. I am also thinking of moving there when I retire and so any useful information regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated. I am also interested to find some good links here. Thanks a lot guys and hope to hear from all of you soon. |
| As far as I know, it is also nice to start a living in Ecuador. It even has a lot of expats there who would say that life is really worthwhile in Ecuador. There a plenty of conveniences that you can enjoy in Ecuador. They hold exciting events, the cost of living is reasonable, and the economy is quite doing well. Here’s the link which will somehow help you check about Ecuador. |
| I guess I'm one of those who would give you a puzzled look when you tell me that you want to retire in Ecuador, especially if you are from a non-Spanish speaking country. It's hard to live in a country where you don't speak the language although you can learn how to speak and understand it but that would take time. Still, I'm sure the people from Ecuador have good things to say about their country that would convince people to retire there. |
| "Many reasons"
- Cost of living- Adventure - Learning a new culture - Hermit wants to live in a bunker away from every... or with other hermits - Dissatisfaction with politics, economy, culture, etc where you are living now Of course to enjoy the experience the most and get the best deals one of course needs to become fluent in the language. Many also retire in Asia where I think the language challenges are more extreme? |
