Moving to Equador in late Feb

Thank author of this post/comment

I will be arriving Quito in late February. I believe I will be there awhile going through the retirement visa routine. After that I believe I will be traveling to Esmeralda and Salinas to look around. Does anybody have a list of expat get together s in those cities? Any recommended non gringo hotels worth mentioning. Question: Do I really need a lawyer to complete the visa I-10 process? I did it by myself here in Venezuela .Any info on reasonable apt rentals other than the obvious real estate scams on the internet. Any contacts would be appreciated.

Learning more about the life of the expats in Ecuador has been my concern at the moment. It is really helpful for those who are looking for some good information that there are forums like this one where everybody can share and give advices. It would be a lot of help for me if anybody in here would share something with regards to the way of living of the people who already are living in the said country.

I've been researching about moving to Ecuador, and I find it very difficult to discerns who is out there to help us, and who wants to take advantage of our naivete.

How can one know who is honest and who is not.

I guess the answer is : ask a lot of questions, and do not always believe the answer. Doublecheck, look to another source for comparison.

Another good idea is not to rush into anything. Study research and assume nothing! Talk to other foreigners that have purchased property and hopefully you will develop from local trusted friends (NOT in the real estate business) that can give you sound advice.

Many people move to Ecuador for retirement period. Ecuador is truly an attractive place. Life seems simple but safe and peaceful. The cost of living is quite affordable and it is also ideal to put up a small investment in there. There are also plenty of conveniences including health care, insurances, and the like.

I myself also desire to spend my retirement period in Ecuador. Great day to all.

Moving in Ecuador is a great idea. Many people have already made their choice to spend their retirement in the country. If you want to be assured, Barry Jones is right that you should ask ideas from people who have already moved in Ecuador. They are the one who perfectly know your situation. Moreover, they can give you tips and other piece of advice to comply all the needed requirements. I guess it can be necessary to have a lawyer because it would give you assurance.
